- I’m not cheap when it comes to eating healthy. I’d rather eat a little bit of something very good than a lot of things that are bad for me.
- I believe good health comes primarily from the foods we eat. I’d prefer to put my money into good foods to stay healthy instead of paying medical bills when I get sick.
- Whenever possible, I put effort into sourcing local, organic, whole foods to eat. I believe that is the best way to build a strong local economy, and to reduce energy used from packaging and transportation.
- I eat food closest to their original forms, so highly refined and processed foods are rare in my kitchen.
- I use whole, unrefined sugar, and good salt–either sea salt or himalayan salt in moderation (although I do love salt and tend to eat more than I should!)
- I soak all grains, beans, and most of the time nuts and seeds too before eating them. Why?
- I use high quality especially good organic oil such as coconut oil for cooking, and extra virgin olive oil for salad.
- I buy my food in bulk because it’s much cheaper, and it feels good to help reducing packaging.
- I don’t use plastic kitchen wares with anything involving heat.
- I compost all food scraps.
- I try to memorize recipes I use–which are very few, so I can still make food when I’m somewhere without them.
- I keep dessert for special occasions–this way I can appreciate and enjoy it more. but I have to admit that it’s not easy waiting:)
- I don’t follow fashion trends. Most clothes & shoes I own last me over 10 years or ‘til they are too old to wear. You can’t gain weight though–try it!
- Makeup and me–um…NO!
- I value buying less and thinking long-term. I believe this is the best way to help with global warming and other environmental problems.
- I reuse everything over and over before I recycle it, and I also re-think (a few times) before buying new things.
- Second hand stores and garage sales are my first options when I need “new” things from clothes to household items. After a long search if I don’t have any luck, I let myself buy it new. I love my shopping habits, and will continue to shop like this even if I become a billionaire–lol.
- I’m obsessed with planting kale, especially the Italian type.
- Above all–I’m kind ♥
